Travelling to Mauritius with children means planning airport transfers with the right child seats. This guide explains the local rules, what seats are available and how to book a family-friendly transfer from SSR / MRU airport.

Child seat rules in Mauritius

Mauritius has road safety laws requiring children to be appropriately restrained in vehicles. While enforcement varies, every responsible transfer operator should provide a correctly fitted child seat on request. We provide infant capsules, toddler seats and booster seats at no extra charge for the first seat per booking.

What child seats are available?

• Infant capsule: for newborns and small babies, rear-facing.
• Toddler seat: for children roughly 9 months to 4 years, forward-facing with harness.
• Booster seat: for older children who have outgrown a harness seat.

How to book a child seat

When you send your WhatsApp booking, tell us the age, weight or height of each child. We install the correct seat before your transfer so it is ready when you land. Additional child seats beyond the first are €10 each.

Family vehicles

For families with more than 3 children or lots of luggage, we recommend a family minivan or executive minibus. Minivans fit up to 5 passengers with 5 large suitcases and have space for strollers.

Tips for a smooth family transfer

• Book child seats in advance, especially during peak season.
• Confirm the number of large suitcases and strollers.
• Keep a small bag with snacks and toys within reach during the transfer.
• Ask for a return transfer at the same time to lock the price.

Are taxis and Uber suitable for children?

Airport taxis and rideshare drivers rarely carry child seats. Pre-booking a private transfer is the safest and easiest option for families arriving at SSR / MRU airport.
